if you get the two perks that reduces the negative effects of gadgets and improves the positive effects, and use the active barrier gadget (this involves holding 's' during the battles), YOU WILL NEVER DIE!!!!!

key to getting hard badge: a good sized patch of four leaf clovers, a dozen or so rabbit feet, and any other misc lucky charms for good measure (that being said good luck..)
