5/5 so far! I really like your writing. Could stand a bit of proofing for basic spacing/punctuation type errors, but regardless is already better than half of the big name RPGs I've played recently. Please keep it up!!
I just beat this with pretty minimal effort, and it was a decent game, but here are my (constructive!) criticisms: the English has a lot of errors and the dialog could use more jokes. Jump attack feels unresponsive, but other than that the controls are great. I was expecting this to be just one chapter in the larger game, so a little disappointed by the short length of the game. Maybe make the levels a little larger in the future, with some more challenging platforming. 4/5, very nice effort!
I liked all the previous versions of this game, but something about the zen of it all is really destroyed by all the ads for mobile this, refresh that, etc and so forth that keep popping up as I play. The entire thing I liked about this game previously was the calm, relaxation of it. Being hassled by having to X out offers I've X'ed out 100 times already is taking away from my enjoyment of this version.
First impressions: Okay, so what do the snails do, other than pick up coins? Get me more coins when they pass the tree? Unclear. I bought a copper. Is this guy even mining it? Nothing is happening, and it doesn't show how many I have. Clicking has no obvious effect, other than swinging the pickaxe. Oh, I'm under attack already? How do I defend? Pretty confused. Seems like a fun game, but needs a little more explanation.
Game lags pretty bad for me. Freezes up for a few seconds every ten or fifteen secs. My laptop is not the best, but this isn't an issue I commonly have with Unity games. May want to reduce lag somehow.
This is the best new game on Kong. 5/5 excellent premise. One thing I would suggest is making different types of pets that you can have simultaneously. Like, once I get high enough in tank mode, I unlock plane mode, boat mode, submarine mode, and space mode and can toggle between them all. Gives a little more depth to it while using the same basic engine.
While I really like the look and feel of this, it just seems...I dunno, kinda empty? A little too simplistic. If I had a game that looked like this on Gameboy, I'd be expecting it to play a little more like Ducktales, with levels and bosses. And I can't get used to the whole start/stop thing. I was only able to make it to stage 15 before I got frustrated and gave up. Even despite all this, I give you a 4/5 for the Gameboy tribute.
A few tips: for Skyspikes, start right immediately, wait til spikes almost hit you, strafe left, wait again, strafe right, repeat. For Platformer, use little jumps and aim for the center of each platform, and do a huge jump off the third one. For Rose, jump pretty much the whole time, aiming for big pieces. In Falling Pillars, use really small hops, stay towards the center, and watch far ahead of you. Never pay attention to the coins in any level--they seem like bros sometimes, but they usually guide you to your death if you get greedy. Practice a bunch, get your bounce-off-walls to at least 5, and you'll be able to progress.
I really felt like there should be about 4-5 more levels to this, but it was still one of the better efforts in this genre on Kong. Excellent art, satisfying gameplay, funny story, and baby Cthulhu = 5/5, despite the fact that I beat it with relative ease. Add to the replayability of it and you'll have a real hit on your hands.
I'm gonna be honest... I came into this game as a huge fan of The Company Of Myself, for its simplicity, good platforming, and interesting story. This one started losing me at the head-scratching roommate interaction, story-wise, and finished losing me at the infuriatingly difficult level 7 gates. I'm so pissed off I'm not even going to finish it. Stick with simplicity in future games.
You should do a bigger, more involved game like endeavor on here. This reminds me of it a lot, except I like the art on this more. I hated that last wall until I finally climbed it, but I almost gave up. Maybe make a mid-point on it somewhere you have a small chance of landing on? Just a thought for future challenges. I really think you're destined to make some great games!
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying it. If you spot any typos in particular, take a screenshot and let me know. I'll be glad to fix them!
