Easiest combo for challenge mode has to be Purple, Red, and Green. That's the best way to the hard badge.

My endless strategy after about level 20 was to use the annihilate spell at the start of the level and get it back to annihilate on that same level, so I could use it to start on the next. I still had three hp pots when I hit stage 50.
