You don't -have- to pay. The Bonus Pack just lets you host bigger games and get those last two units, which are only good in certain circumstances. You're not missing a whole lot.
The game runs just fine on the game's site. Switch to a lower quality and there's little to no lag, and the change in graphics isn't a big loss. I imagine the number of people who want to play at once has something to do with it. In summation, shut yer' hole, dig?
Ok, here's how names work. If someone notices something "off" with your name, -including backwards spelling-, they will alert a Guide, and you'll be asked to change it. It's not going to kill you to be creative, kids.
The last gun DOES work, people. You have told down the mouse button for a minute, and it'll start firing. As it's a Gatling gun, it has to spin up before it can start firing. Hope that cleared things up!
They don't try to suck money out of you. It's not like you can -only- get credits by buying them from their site. It's been said before, the IRE games will, from time to time, hold events with credits as prizes. Aside from that, it's entirely possible to get an enjoyable experience out of the game without paying a cent.
Andvili's right. There's a lot of in-game events where you can win credit prizes, based on how well you do. They've gone upwards of 2000 credits for first place, oftentimes.
I love how people are losing their shit over names. It's a game, kids. It's a Role-Playing game. You know, play a role. If they ask you to change it, just change it to something more acceptable and give the game a fair shot.
If you can't get the Flash client to work, go to the game's site and play it there. As long as you have the latest Java, it'll run just fine there. Just letting everyone know.
