Cool to see that all the BOTDs of this week were of racing games, because the Kongpanion itself is a kind of racing character. That being said, I'm glad it's over, because I'm not much of a fan of racing games. This game is fun at first with an interesting mechanic, but gets boring and monotonous once you start aiming for master division on either track. 3/5
The controls were weird at first, but after customising them (WASD for moving, W for jumping, J for focusing and K for dashing) they felt better. The game itself was fun with interesting mechanics, and I really liked the major mechanic of focusing to dash. 4/5
Really good graphics and decent story. The gameplay however could use some improvement. Examine should be single tap and use should be double tap, and the lightbulb should give a hint on what we have to do, such as by highlighting the object. Otherwise this game has great potential and seems very enjoyable.
It was nice and simple, but the game got interesting later as the mechanics were used together to create nifty little puzzles. There is potential in this game; I hope more levels are made introducing new mechanics and enemies. Also I know that a controllable jump added very little, but perhaps it could have been put into more use in levels. I would also like if make some enemies have different speeds. Perhaps different elements could be used other than fire in this game to make it more interesting? :)
I had completed the game before the second badge appearing... now that I have returned to claim it, the continue button is blacked out and now I cannot gain the badge... what do I do now?
Review: A very fun entertaining game. Mechanics are well made and the game does not stop to make you bored, completable in one sitting. The increase of difficulty from one level to another is smooth. There is excellent variety of equippables and skills, and you need to think what of each would be the best, which adds entertainment to the game. I can see why this game won the May Monthly Contest.
What could be improved: A bestiary would be a good implement in this game and the bosses should have some sort of uniqueness to them. There could also be some sort of plot, even if it was somewhat basic but with a twist to it. But otherwise this game is stellar.
Rating: 4/5.
Extra: Give this game a badge, Greg!
There is a dire problem. Whenever the game asks for us to click a button to continue in dialogue, no matter what I do, the dialogue stays and I am unable to proceed. Am I doing something wrong?
4/5, 1 star gone because 1: you need an amazing game with extreme effort for 5 star and 2: the game makes references to anime, but isn't anime itself. :)
*At Mr. Grumble's mansion* "What a good-looking gravestone"
Hmm... it's just a a very simple smooth rock... with no lettering of any sort... well he's the detective
Thanks for the feedback. We'll do our best to give you a reason to come back and see if we did better on Episode 2!
