Secret way to get out of the house on the first level: hold the grey table underneath you when it is about average size and you will be raised up through the house's roof. you can also do this at a corner of the background to escape that, where you can walk infinitely through a land of pure grey.

Because of course when something scares you in the basement, you run back and forth in front of the ladder 20 times, then climb back up stairs, run around, and then go BACK into the basement to run around some more. LOL
