Barricades are unnecessary. Could this be explained by developers' lack of mathematical instincts?

Started like a nice game. Then I figured out, after getting the running perk and 100 health perk I could collect crates everyday, without even firing a single shot. Nice game, but becomes boring extraordinarily quickly.
