The mechanics of the abandoned mines allows to balance your resources income. If you don't like what mines did received - you can reset th portal and make an attempt to get the mines you need right now. Even though it is visualized a bit odd, most players seem to feel comfortable with it. May be we will improve it one day, when the rest of the game will be perfect :)
