Also, the achievements page has a few things left over from episode 2, like *spoiler* "Fire Guardian" *end spoiler* and "15 minutes." And the new engine really doesn't fix the fig room glitch. Also, I didn't test this, but is the boss hittable with the sword now? If not, that makes the gunner achievement impossible. Man, I feel like an idiot assuming there was already a new engine just because it was a day after that post. XD
Argh, curse you, muscle memory! This new engine is making me lag at different places. Oh, and it deleted my A-rank from my home comp. :P Still doesn't change my rating of 5 though.
Hmm, I was hoping the new engine would fix the glitch in the room before the golden fig, in which holding left would fail to get you into the hole, but apparently that glitch is still there. In my last 5 tries, 4 have ended up landing me on the spikes and killing me. The failsafe of multiple holes isn't very useful, either, as killing all of the turrets would take too much time from the S rank and the one just above the bottom leads to a dead end. Man, I was hoping to get an S rank on my *home* computer, too, so I could potentially see any secrets S-ranking all levels would hold. :(
Wow, now that I can compare the effects of the new engine on the same stages, I can see that performance really is much better. It might just be the placebo effect though.
Yeah, this one seems to run slower when the screen moves on some computers (aka mine), but it's probably the old engine. I wonder if it's been changed yet?
Xaeroecks, "fake difficulty" is stuff like giving a choice of two paths, one of which you can't return from and which will kill you, or just popping a spike out of nowhere unexpectedly. Different physics is not "fake difficulty."
Going off of Powerfrogs's comment, I think extending the shift-jumping ladders by one square might actually be good on tutorial or beginner mode to satisfy those complaining about the difficulty. Or are such changes impossible on specific difficulties with this engine?
Besides the fact that it seems easy to abuse for a high ranking, there seems to be a glitch with the save feature. If you exit the game during the death animation and load up a new one, all switches triggered between the save and death will remain triggered, leading to massive potential for abuse. However, hitpoints upon loading up the save will be set to zero, but you will still be alive and one hit from anything will kill you. Please fix this. Is there a point penalty for loading up save files? I liked it better in the first game when there was no potential for save abuse.
