It would indeed be nice to have customisable controls. Not everyone uses qwerty keyboards, so wasd is not a viable keymapping for everyone. I know you can change keyboard layout in windows as well, but having to reconfigure your keyboard to play a game seems a bit over the top to be honest.
To get recipes you need to find the hidden modules (the yellow things) on different planets. You get mission objectives for them as well. There are 6 hidden between 0-50, 6 lost between 50-100 and so on. So if you don't fnd new recipes, dig deeper.
