Fun game! Minor complaints: 1) I think the shield sound effect is too soft and "boingy", especially on the harder hits. It's also weird that it plays the same sound effect even when a hit breaks through the shield. 2) Draw dart's last upgrade is a downgrade. Going from sum of 10 to 12 feels bad. I think 4->6->8->10 would make a lot more sense as an upgrade path. 3) When forced to pick between two options like in guilds, some sort of indicator would be helpful. Slay the Spire uses a chain linking the two options together. 4) Curse/Poison/Flame shields feel pretty lackluster. It's not particularly fun combat wise (you do the same thing but have to attack X more times), but it also doesn't really make much sense story wise. Things that have magic shields like mages or fairies should have barriers, but creatures of fire or darkness that live and breath that element? Nah. I like the idea of enemies being strong against certain elements, but I think they should do so differently.
6) Gauntlet 7 is hell. You will hurt, you will suffer, you will beg the RNG gods and they will not deliver. This is not an achievement for the faint of heart. Everyone who owns the impossible is to some degree a masochist, but if i had the choice to do it again, I would, gladly. Good luck.
Just got the impossible badge, so I thought I'd share some less obvious tips for those of you going for it.
Recommended Buys: 2 X-Splash (Pawn/King ONLY), 2-3 Cantrips, 4-6 Shields, 2 Hearts
1) Learn how to control monster movement. All melee monsters move to end up on the same row AND column as you, and use all moves. Use this to force goblins and matrons into edges.
2) Avoid putting shield and cantrip on the same piece unless forced to. Having lots of pieces without either guarantees you will take damage you can't afford to take.
3) In the later gauntlets, start designating certain squares as "safe zones" before you make any moves. Be extremely careful about blighting those squares, and know which safe zone you're going to both the current AND next turn.
4) X splash is very strong for the gauntlet as an opening move. X splash on the king is probably the only upgrade I would buy for 6 gold early on.
5) Prioritize Goblin Veterans then Goblin Archers. Minimize matron spawning.
Great game, but hard mode bosses seem a bit unbalanced. After I passed the germ stage, the bird was extremely simple to kill, and the three bosses after that were difficult to dodge but died extremely fast. Awesome game other than that though, keep up the good work!
Pretty easy, just buy all bombs first. Develop straight attack on the mages, and attack and defense on knights. For spear men, push is really overpowered. With 9 push and their special, it will push enemies off the map from your base. (Going off the map kills them)
Hard mode... sigh, every level the opponents have an over whelming advantage over you. I beat it with a deck purely going for 100 castle hp, no attacks. This seems to work because computers are stupid. Your main building material will be crystals, and you WILL need to restart until you get a good hand, pixies FTW.
Ugh.... I fought a battle where all my guys dies except my healer and corpse king. my corpse king took forever to kill there fighters, who healed 40 dmg for every 45 dmg my corpse king did...Now its doing about 5 dmg a second to a 1200 hp healer :(
In the Cooling upgrades, if you buy a later one before you buy one of the earlier ones, it only gives you credit for one, and you can't buy the previous upgrades. please fix this as i got stuck and had to restart the game.
The hardest zone by far is zone 19, and its not that hard. just capture the ant as quickly as possible, then switch and make the ant give to the two cells farthest away from the enemy. Leave your last cell to die, and when they attack your cells simply counter-attack.
wait so if they have a 2X next to a game you get double wepons but get only half xp. how does that work i mean you still have the smae amount of turns so you would just get less xp
7/10 the game was good but it dident have enough enemys it repeated every monster 3 or 4 times. also the wepons if you don't have a good wepon vs a monster later on you have to shoot a lot. The bosses were way to easy. If you have a good wepon you can just shoot it over and over again. It was really easy to doge the bosses attack. also again i don't think there were enough wepon types. there were spread and shoot straight at the person.
vangaurd to spam spearton you need to be miner at the start get 2 more have all the upgrades for miners and speartons ans then whenever there is a enemy turn into the spearton and you can kill warriors and bow man in 1 hit
