My only problem with this game is the fact that the puzzles aren't hard to solve, but frustrating to do so. I know exactly what i have to do, but it takes too much time to do it. In my opinion, point&click games' difficulty should be about the "what to do" or "how" but not about the puzzles' time consumption. Bottomline: The best games i've played in this genre were games where i had to find out what to do, how to progress. Not solving time consuming puzzles. I'll give it a 3/5 for the art and atmosphere. But the gameplay... i'd say it needs work.
Point and click game done right. I don't so much like minigames in my point&clicks but i have to say these were enjoyable. Just difficult enough and long enough so as to provide some challenge (but not too much) without getting you too bored (if at all). I loved the otherwise lengthy content, i thought it would end just before the sub! Anyway, i said enough, 5/5
A running game done well: Autofire, auto-aim, passive upgrades, excellent difficulty curve, don't need all the upgrades to win but they sure help, the quests can easily be won if you pay some attention. Well, i loved it. It sure could use some more stuff, like challenges (different than quests) and more bosses that give you some passive bonuses (aim, firerate?) BUT that would ruin the balance in the current game, so, as it is, it's really really fun to play and simple to beat. Its difficulty is normal, but gets easier the more upgrades you buy, which is still normal :P 5/5
5/5 stars i love the clues' mechanic, it's a great innovation, in my opinion it needs a full feature. The story was "meh", nothing new to be honest. I think the clues need to have more possible explanations and/or combinations, so you really have to think about what the explanation is.. Also, combining two deductions should not "auto", you should do it the same way as with the clues. Just a thought if you make a full feature. But if you're planning just a same-length sequel, then this is all ok, nothing needs changing.
Thanks a lot for your kind words! I usually put much more effort into the story, but this time all my attention went to the "clues system", and I'm glad you liked it!
I'm thinking about uploading another case like this one here on Kong, and then work on a full feature that will consist of several short cases, instead of a longer, single one, that will however be linked by the same, bigger plot.
What do you think about that? Does that sound interesting? :)
It was a fun little game, the shadow puzzle was really interesting. Story-wise i sincerely hope it gets better. Right now it's not really anything unique about it - i hope there is in the sequel. Since the brother said "i'll help you" then i'm looking forward to some mechanic with the ghost, or something weird in the game's world so we really get that uniqueness that the game can offer. I'll go 4/5
Hmm i'm finding the skills a bit weird. The only skills that actually fit the characters in my opinion are warrior's paladin's and archer's. I thought necro would have some sort of death bolt rather than summoning weak skeletons. Also, why does assassin summon anything? He should have some sort of "coup de grace" skill, or some stealth skill that does backstab damage or something. But he summons a fire elemental ? I don't know if more people are going to be added but i was kinda disappointed with assassin, i was kinda looking forward to him..
I just finished it and i'll give it a 5/5 to support you but i hope the puzzles in the next one will be harder. In this one the puzzles' solutions were the only things you *could* do so, even if they weren't obvious, there wasn't anything else so, solved. I also tried making the swiss cheese using the lockpick and i don't know why it didn't work but anyway. I also tried painting yellow (so it doesn't appear moldy - it's not blue cheese after all). Anyway, i really think it's on its way to become a good adventure, but only if it gets puzzles that require more complex thinking. Still, 5/5 to support it.
Yes, you're right: the puzzles, here, are pretty easy. We'll try to make the next episode a little more challenging; also, the idea of painting the cheese is very good and we regret not thinking about it! D: While you wait for the third episode of Rogue Quest, speaking of more challenging adventures, you could try our other adventures here on kong - expecially "A Matter of Caos" which is MUCH more challenging than the RQ series, or you could have a look at "A Tale of Caos: Overture", now on Steam! ;) Thank you very much for your useful support, have a great life and keep having fun!
I loved the game but i don't get why people get stuck after you get in the factory it's pretty straight forward. The only part i was stuck in was getting the gear (in underground city). I though that i would use that lever once i got the door opened since it wasn't doing anything (i got what i had to do in the end) but after i entered the factory i never found it troubling even once. Anyway 5/5 from me keep up the good work !!
To be honest it was *extremely* easy. The most part of it was reading the story, as for the "puzzle" parts they felt needlessly tiresome. Like there wasn't much thought to solve them. Pretty much every item needed was in the same screen and maybe one of them was a screen away. The most "challenging" puzzle was "find the kids" but even then you pretty much knew where to look..
However, it was very atmospheric, i loved the music and the illustrations and i got really immersed. So i gave this a 5/5 because this kind of "art" games really must thrive.. But the puzzles need serious work for the next chapter.
My only problem, that made me stop playing this game at level 2, was that the feed ability is quite hard to use, kinda like a "skillshot" although you need it to survive. I found myself dead many times because i pressed x just a pixel away from the target. I think that ability should not make the character stay still. It should be made to be like "run and grab". That's all
Thank you for such Interesting feedback bro!, we thought that grabbing and running would be too overpowered, so, you can just eat while standing, the abilitie is for regain health so, eating the scientist or single guards would be the proper approach for that ability in my opinion, eating front a horde isn't a good idea haha. cheers and thanks!
I don't get why people give this game a bad rep. I played through it without any problems or frustrations. Just remember you are not this guy, you take control of his actions but his thoughts are his. If he doesn't want to break the vase (because he's afraid he might cause a disturbance between the worlds) then that's his decision. Use your mind to fill in the gaps. Why doesn't he use a chair. Haven't you ever solved a problem in a complicated way only to then realise there was a much much simpler way? Or maybe he just didn't want to, he wanted to use the damn books. I loved the game just like its prequel. Looking forward to the next episodeee
Many have already said it but this game is awesome - a simple and effective strategy game, focusing on diplomacy but also covering the show of strength or weakness, the two-faced allies, the war-hungry races etc... it's really simple yet doesn't lack anything EXCEPT one thing: the worm race. I honestly thought when i was getting closer and closer to the end of the month that i would encounter the worm race (and that's why i hadn't heard from the council). Although i could imagine the worm race would be kinda like lizards, hating all so yeah, boring. Anyway. 5/5
right... i thought in the beginning that it would be quite different. This type of gameplay is extremely boring to me. So i'm not going to rate it because other might enjoy it. I'm going to say what i dislike about it though. It has no story, not even for the main char, the treasures just add to "score", etc. It would be so much cooler if for example you were some kind of a wizard that moves around islands and the idea is to get your creature to a specific artifact which you can then use for other purposes. I'm just saying..
You really have to fix the balance. After the reset the first levels seemed easier however it took 4 more levels to be so difficult again that i need another reset: my warrior rarely does enough damage to bypass the enemy armor and the health upgrades dont do enough - my heroes keep dying on the first hit (apart from the warrior).
So as i played this for a bit (untill level 10) i understood this is a bit like another idle game i've played in the past called trimps. It's extremely similar, especially the thingies you upgrade for the people. This is actually better than that, but i have to agree with everyone else, in level 10 it's starting to get really unbalanced.
