SPOILER ALERT!!!!!! mur is a guy who could go into the submachines, with his portal he sent out teams to explore the submachines. you first use the portal in submachine:the lab. after submachine:the lab it turns out you were training to work in the lab, and mur accepts you into his team. your next misson is submachine:the root. in this you need to find wisdom gems, you first encounter wisdom gems in submachine:the lighthouse. mur says that wisdom gems are the power sorse for the submachines, you never get to see mur in game, though in submachine: the lab he talks to you via the computer. he also leaves a present time note in submachine: the loop.
