To all those who find the excessive elevators excessive, you can cut down on elevator wait time by limiting the height of your elevator shafts. So instead of having shafts that run from ground floor all the way to #49, just put in blocks of 5-10 levels with a break and then another 5-10 levels. Do this for all your shafts and the complaints will stop (though it will be expensive!).
Regular stars appear from 0-30m altitude, then there is a gap of 20m (the zone of death) where only cranes go. Space stars begin above 50m (where there will be a line of cranes flying and the background goes deep blue). You can hit the jet stream anytime you rise above about 15m, and the higher you go, the more common it seems (once you're up in "space", the warnings are almost constant).
