I made it to Gauntlet level 7, where I ultimately perished. The key to success is to pair cantrips and shields on the same cards to the extent possible. Where is the Gauntlet, you ask? Hint: beat the game and look around.
Even with the max backback (gold earning capability), the cost of higher level upgrades is too high relative to the amount of gold generated per kill. Perhaps give more gold per kill as the difficulty ramps up?
We honestly didn't expect people to try to max out everything, but we'll look into retuning the upper stages rewards for the next bug fix round. thanks a lot for the feedback, super appreciated as always!
Build advice: First build the second, third and fourth rows with spikes. Add the ice trap to the first row next. Then fill in the last three rows with archers. Then fill in/replace a row in front of the archers with knights.
Seems like the ranger and wizard icons should be switched, so that rangers have the "r" hotkey and wizards have the "w" hotkey. Right now it is the other way around.
Advice for new players: the gold voucher (money item) is critical to getting far. Try to grab a sword upgrade early, then only upgrade armor when you need HP. Try to avoid using your initial elixir for as long as possible (by building health through armor upgrades). This will help you build a buffer of 500 gold so that you can buy the voucher when it comes around. Then you'll have 2000+ gold so you can buy whatever you want.
Whew, 371 deaths and I finally finished original mode. Wait...there's insane mode? And it's harder than original? UnknownJoe 796 (the developer), you are sick ;)
Waiting for research to complete seems tedious; it serves no real purpose than to force the player to wait unnecessarily. The RP (points) system seems reasonable enough that alone imposes limits to how quickly one can progress. I would vote for eliminating the timer because it diminishes the experience.
Someone (that includes the game's creator, Rudy Sudarto) please explain how to get all 30 units (to get the final achievement + artlogic badge)...I have 29 right now. Thanks!
I think Protectors I throught III were superior to the IV and IV.V iterations. I think the game added complication in upgrade system without adding fun value.
I really dislike the length of time it takes my character to heal. For those of us playing solely for the story - and who have no interest in online multiplayer - having to wait to recover after every battle is excruciating.
