I've been playing this occasionally since it came out; continues to be one of the best games on Kongregate. Many ways to have a successful playthrough, but challenging enough to need to pay attention and have a decent understanding of the game. To this day, I still haven't completed the impossible badge. Fantastic game, especially in a gaming world currently dominated by freemium MMOs and idle cash cows. 5/5

My only complaint at the moment is that on insane difficulty, incoming damage tends to switch from none one wave to dead the next, which is a pretty huge jump. This makes the defensive upgrading a lot less fun, because all you can do is max out everything you can to try and move your instant loss point as far forward as possible.

I'm enjoying the ability to play more of a defensive setup. After doing one ultimate point reset and losing factory points, I did a few runs on normal for a day or two to get some resources back, and I've found maximizing reflect %, fortify percent, and damage reduction upgrades, in addition to avoiding nova to so it doesn't decrease the benefit from fortify and having decent health regen allows a setup without a single point in offense to go deep into the hundreds, and most likely thousands with more blueprint points. I haven't tried insane using this method yet, but I'd imagine it would work the same with a few more upgrade points.

Really would like tooltips for what headquarter upgrades do. Took serious missile and cleansing, with no idea what they're actually going to do.

Upon further testing, laboratory research also continues at that same speed when the game is paused.
Just a heads up that laboratory research appears to go one second per one second while in fast forward, which means playing on 4x or 2x speed makes it harder to do a lot of research.

Conversion for blueprint points needs x1000, x10000, x100000, at the least. After making it to over wave 1000 on hard (Losing to an out of memory glitch) it's a pain tapping convert 100 literally thousands of times to cash in resources.
Developer Reply
It's already available in the development build ;)

Managed to make it to wave 1057, idling from about 300 on, before out of memory glitch hit. Defense upgrades are pretty worthless, since enemies are hitting for several billion damage after a while and my health gets way too expensive after about 20,000. If defense costs were reduced and effects boosted some more so that a defensive playstyle is more feasible, or at least a balanced playstyle, that would go a long way towards giving the game more longevity.

Balance fix seems to have been overall decent, not any major complaints coming to mind at the moment. I do think it would be interesting however, with the new enemy behaviors being introduced like earth's tight formations or multiple elements quick cluster movements to introduce different attack patterns for different elements. In theory, it would be interesting to see each one be the opposite of it's other element; fire could have lower health, but higher damage, while ice has lower damage and higher health. Earth could attack in clusters, while air could spread out immensely. Darkness could turn invisible until within 5 meters of the tower, while nature could heal nearby units. Gravity could damage the tower from any distance, while electric could have damage mirroring step voltage that increases the closer they get. All of these are just suggestions, the point is making elements different would be fun.
New balance changes are horrible. The game was fun before the recent chain of updates, but attack speed being nerfed, resource bonus being incredibly expensive, and resources starting to show up in decimals are all very bad changes. I'd really suggest rolling back the last series of changes and going to how the game was yesterday.

Exchange rate for orange cubes for blue cubes seems pretty high, requires 1000 waves/upgrade, which is pretty expensive for +4 resources/wave or .25% interest.

@Redd500; in my current experience with the game, although I haven't yet made it past 100, the other abilities are very important after you get past the first bit. Attack speed and damage don't scale as fast as enemy health, even with high investment in resource bonus and resource/wave, so once you hit that breaking point it becomes important to have a solid defense, because it is inevitable that enemies will eventually be able to make it your base. I've found that with decent investment in health and regeneration, as well as some defenses, it's not too hard to slow down enemy damage to the point where it takes more than one enemy reaching your base to kill you. In fact, the last few matches I've played I've finished as a result of the game disconnecting and not dying, while before that it has taken enemies a moderately high amount of time to break my defenses. Once you reach this point, it's also helpful to have disruption abilities like gravity offense, earth offense, or air offense.
It would be nice if when receiving a random offense/defense/utility upgrade from the utility upgrade giving that ability, there was a clear indicator showing what got boosted, if something did.
Started this game at a 3/5, but even just coming back a day later there is so much more added in such a short span. Constant updates and good developer reaction to player feedback made me switch this to a 5/5.

Quality of life request; It'd be nice if the codes, like the recent one for 400% dps boost, persisted through resets until the time expires.
Hi blastysw, Thank you for the feedback. We quickly realized that it didn't persist through the reset, and had a fix and another code for players who had lost the buff if they put in a support ticket, on Friday afternoon PST.

@ Johnnzhu If you want the easy route, use the accuracy mod in casual. If you're playing legitimately, then first get the 50 critical kills achievement for accuracy 2. It'll be difficult to get perfect days, but try and do quick bursts of fire to kill enemies as opposed to spraying-don't even worry much about criticals at first. Try and get a HK of some form or another with 2-3 mod slots, and put any accuracy mods you find on it. upgrade the shop as much as you can afford and still beat waves, and buy a gravity gun as soon as it shows up. Try and upgrade the house as well, and get a hunter with bow mastery and an auto bowgun, a defender with nullify maxed, and a rogue with a laser pistol. Focus your level up points towards reload as much as you can, without neglecting damage and all party skills. Set the defender at shooting at aerial targets, and the rogue and hunter to fire at will, while you blast gravity gun shots towards the most high value targets.

@Jellinator I thought the exact same thing first time I reset. If you read closer though, its reset after earning one oc (Octillion) coins.

For the 100,000 clicks (no auto-clicker), don't do it until you have at least about a million gems. Then do the clicks with the elven faction, and I'd advise watching a few episodes of TV or something. If you go back and forth between two fingers very rapidly, can get 8-12 clicks per second depending on finger dexterity, which is 480-720 clicks per minute. At that rate, and counting in 10 minutes of rest for every hour, it will take about 220-152 hours, which is 6-9 straight days, or 258-294 episodes of TV (45 minute ones). The bright side is that you'll get the 500,000 faction coin trophy as well. The downside is that you would make many more gems doing fairy, goblin, or demon, and without getting arthritis. This is a shout out to developers; 100,000 is a little much, especially for one game.

@NormaTheNorman Spells are multiplicative with each other, making it easy for chaining spells to be better than using one. Lets say your Hellfire Blast does 12000%. If your Evil Fortresses and Hellfire Portals are making a combined total per second of 100 Sx coins, then it will increase to 12 Sp. Using Blood Frenzy+Call to Arms, It would increase first to 1 Sp. Then, if your call to arms is more than 1200%, it would increase it to more than 12 Sp. In addition, all evil buildings are boosted with blood frenzy, and all buildings with call to arms. So once you have around 10% of your hellfire bonus as your call to arms bonus, the second option becomes the optimal one.
