so, you can but plantations with trees already inside of them.... and it costs stone

Yeah, you'll see weird costs like that more often in games. Often (incl. here) this is because you don't want the player to become stuck. If you don't have wood left but you do have some stone, and all forests are depleted, I want the player to still be able to progress.

Me: falls on land from high on a cliff: blacks out momentarily. Also me: falls onto a cliff edge from hundreds of feet up and hangs on easily

Why are there 2 types of ice swords? Mercurice description is of an "ice sword", but there is also sleet sword
A mercurice sword is made of frozen mercury, which is a liquid at room temperature. A sleet sword is made of magical ice that never melts.
