Custom game is too hard. I bet a billion bucks that the developer cant beat his own game consistently after lvl 2 or 3 (max level, max size)

(cont.) Continue pushing slowly on the upper side to gain one or two more hexagons, creating the extra units on your north front. Soon I had my five long range on the low side and 7-8 'sight' at the top. This is a good enough momentum to attack cells or enemies, depending how you see it. Hexes will fall quickly, enemies too. The secret is to watch closely both fronts far ahead and be paranoid about sights getting close.

For level 13, on reproducible strategy is the following. Run with you single bot to the long range; reproduce quickly, when u have 4-5 send one to attack the hex after the upper "sight" modifier. As soon as you can, get to 11 cells, the ones on your side of the modifiers. The enemy will have 11 too (board is symmetrical). You will have about six of your "long range" units attacking the cell behind the "upper sight" and the rest, al;son long ranges, attacking the cell behind the lower "sight" (both on the enemies' side!). Then extremely PARANOID as you see a "sighter" that could get close, shoot it down. If it gets too close it will seriously f*ck things up 4 u. What I did next is use the lower guys to slow the enemy (you have to see that they constantly attack an enemy cell, and the enemy will stay put) On the upper side, try to attack some enemies to gain a first hexagon. You will get to 12 hexes to 10.

Level 14 I found the best way is to hurry-hurry till you get to 11-13 units, then run towards the "fly" hexagon, when you have 10-12 flying units there should be a big group of 12-14 "high damage" guy in the center. Approach them buy the side so that they don't hunt you down on you way, then try to get them down all at once. If you succeed YOU should now have 10-12 "high damage" guys as the enemies were standing on the 'high damage" hexagon and you had to go there to kill them. There should be 2-3 enemy units more, laying around, but as the enemies will have 14-18 cells, they will multiply very fast. Get them down as early as you can. Time is really of the essence as a few seconds lost will allow the enemy to counter you, and then its hard to gain the upper hand again. There are probably other strategies. I tried rushing to the center directly but doesn't work as well.

For certain specific tasks, controls are freakin dumb. Let's say you want to cross the map under fire with a group of four. You lose one, double click on another, everybody stops and starts lookin around, you select them all 'with a box', click on where u wanted to go originally, it freakin deselects everything as you have to DRAGNDROP, you die.

When u lose all you lives, you dont regain them. You start each subsequent game with 0 lives. Also when you lose a custom campaign, game ask you to start again but sens you to beginning of single player campaign not custom campaign again.

The most amazing thing is that if the developer had given five races only, everybody would be happy. But giving five races and three locked races, and there go the 1/5's. Who would spit on a few hundred bucks in these hard times?

Maybe also some "auto-mode" for idle units. I found sometimes units are doing nothing, and when you have a whole battle field to manage, it would be useful to set a mode to "auto conquer new cells" or "auto attack enemy" depending on the player's priorities at the moment. The reason I'm asking for this is that sometimes it is easy to win/lose the game on a single battle, making it extremely dangerous for the player to micro-manage isolated units everywhere on the field, but still I felt a bit angered that I would fight heated battles and see units laying around doing nothing. Had lots of fun. Great game!

difficulty was just right, I finished the game with 0 lives left, and my brain feels used up to the last brain cell. Great experience. On thing I would change is he need to clika-clika-clika to generate units. Sometimes it is hard to click on a unit to generate several others because the 'eggs' cover the unit. Why not put a 'auto hatch mode' that would generate units automatically, supposing you could choose a preferred unit type (shield types, flying types..) It would unload the player a bit of the 'unit generating' business so that he can concentrate on strategy. Alternatively, you could put a 'slow mode' like a power bar that feels up and which can slow time for a few seconds so that you can give your orders.

Same as Gaminic's high rated comment. Would add that the harsh penalty for missing a jump on an enemy (i.e. dying) makes it unfun to go for the 5 stars. And not worth my while.

On some of these levels, I strongly doubt the developer's solution is anywhere close mine. Levels sometimes look like a clean and neat solution is intended, mine are fugly and usually dont use all the pieces.

If your bottom line of characters is almost completely empty, you're forgetting to visit one room. Its in a cave level, the level that starts with a screen-high big drop. You need a flying character.
