I remember the first Age of Winds. Everyone's comments matched Palmer's, saying that it had great potential, but it needed to be taken to the next level. Now, as keith075 said, little new has been added, leaving us to wonder whether this concept will ever be taken to that next level that we were all hoping for...PLEASE don't stop, just take it up a notch!
inefficient coding is pretty likely given the level of lag present on this game. Please try and work on this, as it really kills the game when I lose control of the character when enough zombies pop up and I die
Game freezes up roughly 3 out of 4 times I load the webpage using Chrome. Strangely, sometimes, Flash will crash, but the game then starts to work...are both Unity and Flash being used here...? System info: Windows 7 x64, Flash 10.2.154.25 (latest), Unity 3.1.0f4 (plugin) 2.6.1f3 (2.x) 3.2.0f4 (3.x).
The aiming is off. You have you put the aiming clockwise of the enemy to hit him...probably a mistake with the aiming and the off-center placement of the gun with respect to the guy.
The best walking path is faulty. I've already seen it try to take a 5-step path for something that only requires 3 steps and a 6-step path for one that only takes 5.
This game is good. It's fun, has some interesting ideas, and the controls aren't awkward. BUT...I'm getting really tired of game developers making games unnecessarily long by adding on layers of increasingly lengthy, yet nearly identical challenges. This game is an excellent example of that, requiring you to loop through 10 repeating levels, requiring 3 increasingly lengthy challenges in order to face each subsequent boss. I've beaten the first boss now, and I'm done with this game. It's just not worth the time--an increasingly common trend.
BUG: If you hit the "back" button while in the upgrade screen, then you lose that upgrade forever. After completing the next level, you cannot select two upgrades. And I do not see any way to return to the upgrade screen when you're in the menu between levels.
Look, I really liked the first edition of this game, it was great. But, this type of game was already well-known and there were other games that had done better implementations (better controls, hotkeys, more dynamic strategies, etc.). So, I would really have expected that a sequel (even a players' pack) would have made improvements on the basics. Even small issues from the previous game haven't been resolved. As a result, while I had some fun playing this game, I'm disappointed to see it as-is. Here are the issues I see in order of importance: (1) Clicking on one planet, then a second to send a wave turns off auto-waves on the second planet; (2) Cannot click on open space to de-select current planet (important because de-selecting a planet by clicking on it also turns off auto-waves); (3) No multi-planet selection ability; (4) Hotkeys; (5) Cannot drag to non-adjacent planets. The first two are really critical, the others may be something you don't want to add for challenge.
well in addition to the lack of an auto attack button, various other factors have made this game one of the worst grinding games I've ever played. and yes, it's just a grinder, nothing more.
Look, this is a good game, but a few key things really need changing. First, the velocity of the blobs need to be higher. Second, the blobs need to die off (maybe pop?) after a somewhat short span of time, as the bouncing can be really frustrating. Third, newly acquired turrets should either auto-redirect, or you should be able to set the desired direction of turrets before you conquer them.
As far as I'm concerned, the only thing missing from this game is a good set of keyboard shortcuts (as any programmer, I'm sure, would agree). Even just numbering the commands at the top would be sufficient. The conditionals make for a great update to a classic game. This is certainly one of the most clever programming games I've seen on here, well done!
I just paid 2000 GP for something that gives me 5 GP after each quest!?!?! That means that I will have to play 400 quests just to make back my investment...SERIOUSLY!?!?!?! DO NOT BUY THE "Scroll of the Investor"
A response to a few others: First of all, I'd like to point out that there is no propaganda here, but rather a description of a series of standard internationally recognized laws which have existed far longer than any of us. Second of all, how can you think intellectual property is a bad idea? If people couldn't copyright songs, then the music industry would not exist, nor would music on radio, TV, or the internet. More broadly, without intellectual property, there is no motivation for innovation. Inventing, creating, designing; all these things would dwindle away because no one would be able to make a living by doing them. I'm not saying I support overly powerful patent laws like many of those in the US, but without them, societal progress would be a pastime instead of an occupation.
