I've beaten it in 3 days on multiple occasions and have used the same basic strategy each successful run. On the first day just fly in one direction and hope for luck and at least $800. On day 2 buy a level 2 radar and the best fuel tank and left and right rockets you can and try to stay in the air for as long as possible. If you got more than $5000 then you have a shot at mars. On day 3, buy the maximum Fuel Sucker and the best fuel tank you can afford, E-rockets are also good if you can afford them. Now use your renewable fuel capacity to slowly work your way up to mars. Use your E-rockets if you get stuck with a lot of downward momentum and are losing ground fast. Using this strategy I'm able to beat the game about 10% of time. A good deal of luck is still required.
