ok. I was able to get to the water idle screen and on going back I was able to do the actual attack on my target and everything else went back to "normal"
hmm... tried to attack the next planet but I could only send my fleet.... nothing else happened... and I can't get back to my planet :(

hmm... I pressed the save-button multiple times yesterday. after loading the game today the game does not load anything. :(
