This game has some good ideas, but the length of the game is far too much for the strength of the involved mechanics. This game is 9 years old, and I hope that the developer has continued on with game creation because of the promise this shows. Am I likely to replay this? No, it was more of a slog than anything to get all the badges, but nothing about it was particularly objectionable.
I think it would be really cool to permanently unlock certain modifiers for runs, it's frustrating getting to start a run with a cool modifier you're excited for then dying before you can make use of it, or even see any effect, and have to play through world 1 in order to get another chance at it. Honestly I think starting with several characters unlocked and each of them unlocks an additional character, as well as the ability to permanently unlock world modifiers would make the unlock system more interesting
Ever since the new update I've been having trouble getting it to load, that might be an issue on my end though, I'm not sure. Deleting the cookies sometimes but doesn't always help
The most powerful spells are the storm spells, and sneak attack, you can clear the board of whatever you need mana of, damaging the enemy in the process, then attack several times, I finished the last level under 100 hp below my max, whilst doing nearly 500 damage a turn, and with the 2 turns you get for every opponent turn, and the little bit of regen I'd picked up, it wasn't too hard. It was a nice little victory lap after getting past the challenges the game had to offer
I remember playing this game years ago, and I still come back to it. I think that this game (and to a lesser extend the prequel Fixation) are both incredible works of art that need to be much more highly praised and tried by everyone.
I came back to this game after who knows how long, I've been slowly ticking off each challenge for years. Today I beat challenge 21. I'm fairly certain that your opponent's madness can only be megalomania (+2 arcane and +4taint) every turn. While you also gain the taint from their madness and not the arcane, that is the key to victory. Remember taint cannot kill, so you just need a bit of luck to get in that final hit for at least 1 damage.
Something that would bring this game from good to great is if you made the game window wider, and have the game still register your mouse movements while letting you move to the edges of the screen. I got killed countless times by accidentally moving my mouse just barely off the screen and my ship stopped moving entirely
I remember when I first played this, round about when it came out. It seemed more or less a mirror of the internet while making fun of it. Now it seems different, a shard of comical and ironic joy in a much changed internet. An internet with more joy, but more strife. 4/5 as I HATE the flipping "upgrade"
The space cargo mission is bugged. I've completed it twice but when you reach 300k it ends the mission without finishing it, even if you return you don't have the cargo, but you also don't finish the mission once you end the level.
I noticed a glitch, if you hit a bouncy platform while within range of a light you will keep jumping until you are out of range of the light, without using the light. This glitch is useful for quickly finishing the first bouncy platform stage. I don't know if that is an issue worth fixing but I thought it was an interesting quirk.
It's kinda sad watching a ship get turned away from port after port for months then finally, the last port closes, there is no place for the ship to dock. Also, how can you not hate Madagascar? If you don't start there everything is nightmarish.
"Hopefully we haven't started a new axe pun trend. We made a huge mistake..." You're going to axe yourself the same question every day for the rest of your life. YOUR GAME IS LIKE RAPTUROUS MARMALADE
Or: once upon a time 3 well off people grew up together, they were captured and killed by a mage, the graves of the 2 males fell in love. Because stone does that sometimes
Once upon a time there was a princess and 2 other people who grew up together, when they grew up the princess saved them from an evil mage. In the end the 2 guys fell in love and the princess fell into depression.
This made me think back to the flowery field in "The Company of Myself" and this explains he cheated to always be there. And then the other thought, he tells her to tell him if the amount of the medication he takes starts to worry her, but he doesn't remember anything when he gets home, it is possible that for weeks even months he had been promising not to take any more ever again to her, and just didn't remember. That is a scary thought.
thanks a lot!
