I'm stuck on level 7. I can't find the key! Incidentally, the loony recruit appears to have a non-terminating chat loop that I have to "skip" to escape. Perhaps this is a glitch and he's supposed to give me the key?
I finished the game on the second run. Fill out the attack/defense/critical skill tree first, then the magic tree (but grab heal fairly early on). Every time you get to choose an attribute point, put it in defense. Always buy out the potions and useful crafting materials every 10th floor - you'll need a solid stockpile later on. Enchant your gear with mana regen so you can heal indefinitely - this will only wear thin once the enemies deal massive magic damage starting around floor 65. At that point, don't worry about clearing everything anymore - skip the hard monsters by using the magic pickaxes to get to the stairs; the Reveal spell is very handy for determining the best course. Remember that you can only drink custom potions while you're out of combat, so save the regular potions for the very last levels. Good luck, and happy adventuring!
Excellent reference to the plushie tiger from the first game. Without playing that game and remembering the writing on the wall, I'd never have known how to save that little boy. :)
Regardless of the nature of the conflict, be it political, ideological, economic, philosophical, class, race, etc. - the solution in all cases is obviously wholesale slaughter...
Beat the game without buying even a single level of Kick, Bite, or Shiv. Sure, I bribed the judges and was particularly rude to my fellow comrade runners, but hurting people simply isn't necessary.
So the destiny maps can be quite challenging due to the randomness of your resources, but map 5-15 is utter bullshit. Having an enemy that can teleport past your troops and assassinate your defenseless leader? I've aced the level only to die to that enemy several times in a row now.
Because people were greedy and corrupt, God wiped them off the face of the planet and gave the animals sentience. The animals were so good that the demons could not corrupt them, so instead set about to wipe them out.
Alright, fine, but what about the song the pig who runs the shop sings?
"I like money~ Oink~ Sell and sell, more and more and gather up money~ There's nothing better than money~"
For serious.
Since I first played through on Normal, I missed out on the special ending because there's one you can't get unless you play on Hard. For days afterward I kept thinking how I wanted all the endings to be true, especially Deadeye's and Swig's. When I finally replayed on Hard and got the special ending, it moved me to tears...
