Alright, I'm going to give you guys a real big hint, thinking about making lots of money as a trader? no! Become a warship party, in the long run it pays off way better, fighting the 14 trader ships gives you roughly around 40k after battle, plus they are super easy to defeat.
I make the music by myself using garage band. i have a softfile :) maybe just sounds similliar, but i never playing that game, i though the game's music

Heres a quick tip, keep progressing through until you have all rockets and homing, stay on level 9 and just grind, youll get alot of rp, especially with the collector upgraded
I think there should be some options that allow you to upgrade your equipment. You could implement a way to use all the junk loot you find, smelt it down to make metals that can be used to upgrade current weapons/armor
Love the idea of them firing back at you, but I think it would be pretty cool instead of having a set castle, you use the points you get to create your own castle for the levels.
So my personal tip that works for me is, once you get your characters to atleast lvl 10, put them all on auto. So far the A.I. of my men know what to do better than me and win every single fight.
