They do follow the footprints, but only right after you kill him. Kind of makes sense, sense you'd figure if they didn't find you there the first time, why bother checking again? My personal favorite is "We killed him". Really? Guns... kill people?
Best driving or zombie game I've ever seen. combining them just multiplied the greatness. I think the ending has left me more afraid of zombies and nuclear winter than World War Z or the Zombie Survival guide did though. But it probably left me more prepared than either.
