Nevermind, won by bashing enough and having my computer lag on me, after which all the spacebar presses arrived at once, putting me ahead of the other guy.
I'm completely stuck at level 20. Block 3 prevents me from getting through with block 1 in time, and if I hold the door open with block 3, I can't get past block 3 with block 1.
I discovered a way to cheat: if you hit "Go" after a fight and encounter a group of enemies before the window is in its original position, you can click "Go" to move on without fighting.
