Well... apparently you are one of the few people that actually READ the rules... good for you.... and as for the barracks... that's a bug, once you get the right amount of mana then it will still upgrade it...
I hate how people complain about this game... it is 5000000000 times better than the first, so what if you don't get auto-fire, it just makes things more CHALLENGING.... a word that most people don't like but tough luck, keep up the good work and I hope to see more!!!
h0bbz they won't have a card "shop" because there are too few cards in the game..... if they get more cards then they might want to consider it but for now it is fine the way it is....
