Fireball, Lightning, Ice Spike, Teleportation. Ive had good results with this.

Ok i surrender to a castle since it was taking 20+ minutes to barely injure it and i come back with a new unit and the enemies from before are still there? they were beating on my castle at the beginning of the game!
