My first thought was "Oh, it's a Braid clone." But this game is definitely good enough to stand alone, and has a different neat little dynamic about it that makes it charming and fun to play.
I think my favorite part of this isn't the random arsenal of weapons this guy has to destroy bugs with, but the number of knives, axes, anvils, and nukes that he has. The walls of his house must be lined with weapons. I would like to live there.
An interesting metaphor you've made here. Not only does being around others have the potential to both be good and horribly wrong, but the longer the relationships last, the worse they get. After you're around the others for long enough, if you let them get too far away, things become out of control and move very quickly. If you don't keep a proper eye on the ones you've let out of your reach, they'll come flying in from out of nowhere and kill you. Sounds a lot like all of my relationships.
