To answer my own question and let everyone know, I've got my Int at 161 (including about 30 from equips), and I can buy things from the vending machine, then recycle them for a profit. Brokenness ftw? XD
Awesome intro and ending sequences. That ending "camera" work felt a lot like Firefly, incidentally. Best part of the game was having actual hints that help without flat out telling you what to do. Worst part was a bug that needs fixed. Anyone who just starts punching system codes into the container console (like me) is liable to accidentally skip opening the first capsule and use the second code first (like me), in which case Cap'n just repeats his "try opening one of those containers" hint for the rest of the game.
I was trying to figure out what causes the ammo bugs, but I found a new bug instead. On the level with the green blob spawning glowy zombies, I followed a few of the zombies away from the blob, then came back and found nothing. No blob, no more zombies, but the guy tells me to go kill the new thing.
The ammo bugs really kill the game for me. Had the turret go into unending reload, then the flamethrower lock at 0 ammo (refuses to reload), then the autoshotgun, then the laser cannon. Gave up on the game as too buggy at that point. 1/5 until bugs are fixed so my weapons aren't going AWOL one by one.
Is there a reason why I got money only after one round, a draw? I had two wins, one draw (the only time I actually got money or had the bonuses show up after the fight), and one win that got called a draw even after I took out both enemies. Something seems bugged.
Aside from everything already mentioned, the final boss could really use some work. At the very least give him a health bar or something. I simply gave up after slashing through him (and that after figuring out a way to make him not jump the slashes) around 20 times with no apparent effect. =/
O.o How is fighting three javelin-throwers and two mounted halberdiers even supposed to be possible in the second battle? There's a difference between "Hard" and "impossible" that may not have been grasped here...
Getting swamped with 4 or 5 enemies at once, especially a mix of mounted and ranged, is a death sentence. You can't jump because of the impact stun from ranged attacks, and your attacks let the enemies hit you several time in return. Add to that enemies taking 5-10 hits to kill and your slow attack rate? Ugh.
Great, now every character has straight 1s for stats when I start a new game. I even deleted my first save (the only one with real stats) without effect. :/ Something's broken.
Very nice game, but the weapons could use more detailed (and in some cases, any) descriptions/stats. Also, the gap between the last 3-5 ships quickly drags out into tedium.
Even ignoring the mangled language, the game has a lot of problems. The map makes seeing what you're doing a pain, some of the early missions are tremendously unbalanced (6x3 vs 2?), and status attacks are available way too early. When you're outnumbered 3-to-1 or more and enemies have a decent chance of hitting with confusion or stun, winning is pure luck.
Found a funny bug. After the first day (meaning no other survivors), I searched only for weapons, and the report told me that one person died during the search. Apparently, I spent the rest of the game as a zombie or something...
