Papa, N has actually been around for a good long time, and, no, he never had weapons.
On my behalf, I'm kind of upset of how this version of the game fairs. The normally hectic, smooth, and fast-paced N I used to remember is absent here. The controls are relatively sluggish and that can't work well in the game, ESPECIALLY when you're dealing with Floorchasers and Gauss Turrets; which can easily pick you off if you're not fast enough.
Overall, it's the fun N I remember, and the new layout and updates are nice; but it needs to run faster.
It reminds me of the IL-2 Sturmovik games (Funny because you can get an IL-2 in this game.). It'd be cool if you could land at certain airstrips (Though, you can still be attacked from above) and get health back.
I grew up with family that played and myself playing Shmups'.
So, when I found a well-done online one? You couldn't even IMAGINE how many trash bags full of shit I shat.
That wasn't a reference to Fallout 3. It's an old sci-fi movie about giant ants called "Them". I never played Fallout 3. Couldn't get it to work on Windows 7.
Alright, playing through the story...I have a few complaints.
When I look at shooters, I think of moments where you have to use the best of your reflexes to dodge hordes of monsters. Here, I get a bunch of blobs, birds, spiders, and whatever the hell hangs from the ceiling constantly being from a safe distance.
I have played loads of games like this, but they still have those frustrating and almost pulse-pounding moments, excluding the bosses, this game has none.
The damage system? Well, this is okay, though, I don't understand why those spiders take off more damage than any other creature in the game.
The music. It's a nice, 8 bit-like tune that goes with each game, but, after, like, 20 minutes of listening to it, I just want to smash my head against a wall to get it out.
The level design? Even if it's the point of the game, jumping through monotonous caverns gets a bit tiring. I want some variety, not just jumping through a maze looking for health power-ups and such.
