You can auto-fire by holding the mouse button to shoot, then bringing it out of the screen, then you just let go off the mouse.
There's your auto-fire ;)
Here's a secret: After you travel in the ship, and then you go underwater, you end up in a cave with survivors, talk three times to the dog, it'll act as a pill!

Just keep stepping back until you get where there's a door and a lever, then quickly close the door using the lever, get out the building, try to survive :)
My save always disappear, I dunno why, but sometimes it saves and keeps for about a week, but then, when I come back to play... KABAAAM, i got only the new game option. :-(
It happen only with this single game. Oh, and the 'G' to save partner is broken long ago :-(
I'm never gonna finish the damn game this way.
