Not a fan of the targeting priority. Nothing worse than watching the boss germ on almost no health fall off the bottom of the screen because all of your turrets are busy shooting upwards.
Good concept but bonus in regards to 'first try' etc is very dependant on luck. They are randomly spawned which means sometimes no matter what you do, you will not reach the goal. 4/5
People like 'icebeing' and those who voted up the comment need to learn how to read english properly. The blacksmith says 'Meet me IN my workshop' and the camera zooms to it. How can you not figure out you need to go inside the building? It's blatantly obivous. Further, how is he supposed to upgrade you without his tools?
@Tenet: I reached 700 in survival using tiri123's method. The thing to remember is you are invulnerable for a short period of time when you take a hit, use this to run through enemies to hit the wizards.
Good game but one niggle that makes me rate it lower. Mouse click for launch - if I pause the game, navigate away and come back, click on resume - it launches a ship. Close the popup thing at the bottom? Launches a ship. Click on a mission to start it? Launches a ship. I would like the option to turn off mouse click launch, as I prefer to use the keyboard to launch ships anyway.
Further discovery: In mining missions, the waves are sent based on how much you have mined. So spending minerals on getting them faster is actually a BAD idea. Statistically you are more likely to succeed having a single miner as it means all your money is going on defenses. Would take a very long time, though. Have patience, and play the mining missions on fast - there is no award for completing missions quickly.
THELs are rather useless. Too much energy drain, and are out performed by missile turrets. Fully upgraded THEL = 2400, fully upgraded missile turret = 1900, which gives you 100 missiles out of it before it starts to cost more than a THEL. Add in splash damage from the missile turret and it's a clear winner between these two turrets. And you can turn them off if your pulse lasers are equal to the task, saving minerals.
Getting to 96,750 points and then never having a blue ring turn up and losing is a bit harsh. The randomness I can understand, but it's a bit of a game breaker to never get a blue ring in the entire round. I enjoyed the game otherwise, and only played to get the badge.
Yep, going up a level in the middle of combat is bad. Also, since you have to manually aim with the mouse, why add a chance for a bullet that connects with an enemy to miss? If it was to balance out critical hits, then simply make a critical zone on the enemies, that's harder to hit. Game is good as far as this type goes, but these plus fixing the save files would make it better.
I would like to rescind my previous score, and adjust this to a 1/5. I just had a large 'tank' with two wheels get stuck on a hill. And then had a different large tank with 3 wheels inexplicably flip to behind the enemy factory where it died a ridiculous death. If this game gets achievements I will be dumbfounded as to why.
I wouldn't call these tanks, really. Far too top heavy. I mean, I saw a tanks fall over from firing while on a hill, stopping suddenly, or even getting hit by another tank round. These 'tanks' are far too wobbly to be called as such. A definite good addition would be to set at what health the tanks retreat - 10%, 25%, 50% etc. Lower the center of gravity in the physics so they stop falling over, and increase the aiming AI. Something wrong when a tank can't hit a stationary tank because it keeps shooting over it. Get some keyboard shortcuts for the factories, some way to adjust the scroll rate (yay for scrolling back and forward when you have one factory at the spawn point on a large map) and stop having the build menu take up the entire screen, put it to the side or the bottom so it's not as invasive. These things are a real game killer. Very good concept but very poor execution. 2/5.
I decided to play this game through again, and went buccaneer. What an absolute failure. Here I am, with the worst rating possible, I LEAD the buccaneer guild, and I still get attacked by buccaneers while traveling, and enforcers leave me alone. This halves my previous total, to 1.5/5, and I'm rounding down.
