In order to get into the game you have to make it through several hours of the beginning since there is so much to learn and do and can be overwhelming for many. But later in the game you will look back and figure out that those hours were history and very fun and you wish to experience being new to it again.
No one who hasn't put several hours into the game hasn't earned the right to label it. RuneScape is extremely massive. It does not have a linear game play. You can take your character on any journey you want. It appeals to everyone’s gaming type.
Even as a 17 year old I love the game. personally after earning 200m gold and 99 woodcutting and playing 2k hours I had to stop.
I think people immediately label this game as kiddish due to the not so amazingly wonderful graphics and large middle school audience. The older audience doesn't always admit to playing such a game. This game is the worlds most popular online game (they broke the world record). This game came out around 2000. Those kids grew up and stopped playing. Whats said all over the place now is: "Ha! You still play that little game? I haven't played that since I was in middle school." The older audience has simple ruined it for potential players. When in fact! This game is virtually never ending and very fun.
