Since movement is discrete yet aiming is continuous, you're almost GUARANTEED to receive the slowdown penalty unless you're moving and aiming in a cardinal direction. This is extremely annoying and should NOT apply when you're not shooting.
So uh... I've been trying all the missions one at a time... Did the first VIP mission and it was impossible. The bigger zombies had impossibly large amounts of health and the VIP literally couldn't run if his life depended on it. I'm not a fan of P2W games.
Storytelling is 5/5, but there doesn't seem to be any meaningful player decisions or loss state. I quite liked it, but is it a game, or not a game? Does it count for the challenge? This requires further research. Thank you for your contribution to science!
I played the original a LONG time ago. Good game. This game is great for typing practice and the fantasy theme is awesome as always. This one is basically better than the original, but there's a few glaring issues. 1) It doesn't track your score. 2) Some enemies come from the side of the screen near the player and leave too little reaction time. 3) It would be really nice if the words in the critical box didn't move every time you typed one, which is disorienting.
To kill a void eater, you must A) Convince it to use particle beam, then get up close and splat it before you die. B) Splat it IMMEDIATELY after it's gravity well attack (hard, not recommended)
Pro tips: The razor glaive is a MONSTER. Many awards are easier to achieve once you have it. To kill a queen, create distance by threatening it with your sword, then swing during her lunge attack. It's better to swing too early and clang, then to swing too late and die. The razor queen is basically the same BUT A) You must sidestep her lunge and swing towards her back, so your sword doesn't hit her pincers. B) She can't be pushed back, and can corner you if you're not careful! C) She has many more attacks, but the in-game tips will tell you how to deal with them. The razor glaive can kill a razor queen in 2 hits, but due to your reduced speed it's extremely hard to land a hit without your armor blowing up. You can also distract the razor queen with a box gun for FREE HITS if you're really struggling.
Never mind that "skill" thing I was talking about earlier. I got all the awards again for fun and have mastered the game but it turns out 90% of your deaths are from off-screen enemy lunge combos. I can see why that's very frustrating. Still one of my favorite games. Fusing enemies and giant swords are awesome.
This game isn't supposed to be a cakewalk. It's you against deadly threats. It's a game that you slowly master to become a deft swordsman and it feels great. The controls are simple as pie so I don't know how people have trouble with that. You must learn how to dodge swiftly; most enemies attack in a straight line and can be sidestepped regardless of how slow our hero is. The sword probably weighs him down. If you REALLY need a burst of speed, there is a sprint ability too... This game has it all!
You need an average of 8,056 points per hole for the hard badge. It helps to get some easy hole-in-one's to make up for your mistakes.
I'm not familiar with the programming of isometric games but the physics seem to make total sense! For example, when your ball is in the "shrine" (with the moving wall at the bottom of the spiral ramp) you can hit it with max power in time with the gate, and if the line between the ball and your cursor intersects the opening, you can bounce off the shrine wall to grab the last rainbow piece and get a perfect 10,000.
I screwed up royally on the "skull" hole but still got 150,000 total points on my 3rd try. Keep trying and you'll get used to the power meter.
I found a bug. I don't remember what I clicked exactly but I tried forging a helmet from my inventory and managed to make it disappear. Luckily the game auto-saved when I hit a shop floor so I refreshed to get my helmet back and only lost a couple minutes of progress.
Pro tip: Getting all of your non-strength stats to ~10,000 will increase your basic combat efficiency by 6.53x (including level 5 Deadly talent). Also, at level 70 you unlock "turbo training" which starts at 25x combo which helps drastically. Finally, the bank gives you surprisingly little money, so you should prioritize other purchases before bank interest.
Highest rated on Kong already? Damn. Even I felt generous and gave 5 stars. The gameplay is nothing new or special, but the structure (of the entire game and it's systems) and execution (especially of training) is top tier. Sonic Adventure 2 also had good structure which upheld it's subpar gameplay. Well done Argl.
