Yes, finally beat the Europe challenge (with gold!) on the 2nd try. Thank god the ally was smart-ish enough to run to the Balkans/Ukraine and stall for time; at one point he was down to a single territory before I managed to save him. And yes, its worth trying to save your ally -- if he manages to conquer even a single territory a turn, you get another card piece.
I really like the progressive feel of the game. Level 1 seemed pretty meh and basic for a Risk-type game, then level 2 made things a lot more fun with fog and multiple armies. Then level 3 came and things became insane in a good way. Definitely going to come back to play this game, really polished and well designed. Well, besides the zoom out to attack across the sea thing.
@Lordofwar3 Funny enough, you are. The internet (at least a very archaic version) was created for the U.S. gov originally for sharing information, not by businesses. And knowing common knowledge is half the battle!
I have to disagree with the other opinions currently uprated. I feel like the graphics are indeed the best so far, especially the spell animations, and game still "feels" like an EW game. Story? Who plays EW for story? :P. The unit customization actually improved by giving more variety with skill trees and item equips for indiv. units, but it is a bit clunky and annoying to scroll through pages. I don't miss the drag and click ability at all; it was WAY too hard to drag boxes when there were just huge clumps of units everywhere. I DO want a minimap back sometime, though. My biggest complaint is that the game is too easy - the other games had revenge waves, etc. that made it hard to win without using spells and heroes correctly, but making hero death a lose condition just makes it too easy to speed up x3 and press X to charge with everything except the hero and wait a few minutes until victory.
I have to say, without the multiplayer part of this game it's just so dull and... idk, inferior to Void, which is just an underplayed single player space game on Kong as well. Don't get me wrong, I've played this game when it HAD multiplayer, and it was awesome. But without it, its just so slow, and the mechanics/weapons aren't nearly as fun to use compared to Void, which was a lot easier to grind kills. The fact that Void has a BETTER autopilot system makes this game even more obsolete. I'm just really disappointed with this old game now. Hope the next installment fixes multiplayer, still deserves the 5/5 + fav I gave it 2 years ago.
@Ghotch No, the chests are designed to randomly pop up every time a room "refreshes" ie entering/leaving or even before/after battle. Several times I get chests after I beat stuff, it balances out.
I love how that one NPC survivor at the end is invincible so you can merrily grind on Zombies to your heart's content since you have a tank. Why can't your own companions be that useful? Well, I ended up playing most of the game as a Machete/Sledge Hammer/Battle Axe swinging psycopath who one hit killed stuff and paranoidly whacking corpses to make sure they didn't rise again. Guns are hilariously inaccurate except when used by companions, which ALL DIED. Why would you give me a super sniper rifle with no ammo to give to a companion I don't have, game? :(. Still, like I've said before, definitely worth a 5/5, despite flaws.
@Nationality There IS a visual cue when lockpicking now. Whenever you go over a sweet spot the lock thingy jiggles slightly in addition to making a sound. It's definitely noticeable if you go over the spot a few times.
I have to say, I love this game but I hate the little flaws that stop it from being perfect. Why can your storage only carry 30 pounds of items when the entire point of a storage is to carry crap you don't want now but might want later? The "get random junk" quests are pretty much based on luck in finding the required things since you can't hoard items like in most games based upon infinite or "partly infinite" storage inventory. Also, why are companions able to perma-die? As in, even if you refresh the game, the game still auto-saves after your companion dies. I don't know, its still a great game, but it just bugs me.
@yogidabear Congratulations, you've just realized the concept of an affectionate parody/ homage to older games. Was it the jokes on the boss's descriptions that tipped you off, or the silly storyline and blatant nods to classics?
@novagargoyle Even though it's still pretty annoying to have to use a mouse rather than a keyboard hotkey, have you tried turning on the Auto-Loot feature in the settings? Its even faster than the other way of auto-looting, just click once on a corpse and wait 5 seconds.
Well, my save data was kept, and the performance in the overall game works great now! Well, except the bag. Everytime I open my inventory the game slows to a crawl. It's almost not annoying anymore, just weird.
@BarbeBleue "Gibbed" is slang for being gored/blown up. That stat basically means how many soldiers you've exploded via grenades, rockets, mortars, etc.
Tournaments work fine for me, which is good since the Blight/Nexus Pack tournaments are the newest way to get War Bonds (enter for 5 WB, depending on how you do you can get more than 30, I've seen a high of 46 for top). Sweet exclusvie cards too!
@username2 Click on something to equip it. The top 3 slots in your inventory are your equipment slots. Primary arms in the first slot, armor in the middle slot, secondary arms in the third and last slot on the right-most slot.
@xxBananaBoatxx A lot of comments complaining about the game are rated down because they're, quite frankly, stupid. Why would you comment a bug instead of report it to the developers? Why would you complain about a game's faults in a non-constructive way and expect to be not voted down by people disagree with you? Also, a lot of questions are blatantly user error. Some guy 6 comments down asked why he couldn't join a raid, which is probably because the raid timed out or was full of people already. Use the forums or game chatrooms for things like that.
