Why does every Othello game on Kongregate force you to play as the first player to move?? It takes away from the strategy in a big way. Playing as the second player is very different, especially with openers.
This game is visually nice and has a nice compliment of AI levels. But it is absolutely crippled by the fact that you always go first. The dynamics of the game are so much different when you go second. Anyone learning to play Othello using this game is only learning half the strategies.
Having only one AI difficulty is forgivable but not being able to play as white just kills this game. The strategy is very different when you have the second move.
Showing the spaces where it is legal to move is a good help for beginners but if they never learn how to play as white they will be at a loss when playing for real/online PvP.
Use the amulet of efficiency to heal on the cheap (must use during battle though). Use it on a weak enemy. Also many people are complaining about magic being useless. Are you serious? Later in the game a magic hit is double a regular hit and it is very cheap...

Max out your mana limit and regen as soon as possible. This will allow you to gather a force of 15 or so quickly, which can then be sent en masse to kill a hero. Max out skeleton warriors and archers later so that the resurrect spell has more bite. It can turn the tide of battle.
If you click on a special attack and then click on the enemy and then click on the enemy again you get a free second special attack. I.E., he will slash or shield charge twice.
