Also, why does the very tip of the tail (aka the smallest segment) have the same size hitbox as your head? Makes it very difficult to dodge when your length increases.
The damage upgrade does nothing at all. Takes the exact same number of hits to kill everything after getting it as it did before. The air enemies were a good touch, but they had a few problems. The could move horizontally, and they could move at a slight downward angle, but they couldn't move back up, leading them to get stuck in various locations on a couple levels. Next, the "boss creatures"... The mutant one you get the achievement for killing is so puny, but then the hand monster thing that dashes through you is unkillable. Then you get the corrupted dash suit soldiers that you have to pound away at for almost a minute to kill. Finally, leveling up doesn't seem t do anything at all. I never shot any faster, I couldn't take any more hits. It did increase my shield regen rate though, so I guess it was doing "something" after all.
There's a weird bug where clicking the planet to end your turn will freeze the game. The planet will let out it's "gravity pulse" that usually makes the hexes rotate around the planet, but that's it. After that nothing will respond. Refreshing the page will fix it, but there's nothing to keep it from happening all over again. I had to do it 3 times in a row for the same level, was quite frustrating. Otherwise great game. I'd like to see a larger tech tree and more "utility" type units if there's a sequel.
Vote this game up so it makes it to the "Most Rated" section on the home page!!! A message everyone needs to hear. It doesn't just apply to internet flash games either. I honestly wish this game was mandatory in schools. Teachers let their students play it for a while, they laugh and make stupid jokes about it for a while, then the teacher snaps them back to the real world, showing them the symbolic meaning behind the game, and how that is translating to the working world.
For lvl 25, if you choose to do the clock change, make sure you exit the level first. Froze my Flashplayer plug in, had to restart my comp to unfreeze it.
Crypts are totally awesome (and maybe a little OP), huge range, bounce, and 75% chance to Fear the target. The Thiefs/Ninjas are also OP though... The only way to "defend" against them is to throw a Den at the entrance of the level to waste the smoke bomb, but that doesn't even work on all of them. Maybe add a building that is terrain neutral, costs a LOT of gold, and allows towers adjacent to it to target Smoke Bombed units, or a spell that reveals an area for a few seconds.
I'm 1 life short of the last achievement T__T I lost one on 1-3, 2-2, 3-3, 5-1, and 5-2. I can't get the timing/lava pit jump thing on 5-1, and I can't get the second wheel on the cart to get over the spike pit on 5-2 >.>
Needs a minimap for the longer levels. Monitoring the progress of my advance, then scrolling AAALLLLLLLL the way back to build another tank, then scrolling AAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way back again...
Seems the kill bounty does not autocollect for you like fountain income does. Builds into the above frustration of scrolling back and forth across longer maps.
I like rrauwl's idea of providing "training" upgrades. Upgrade the crew's rate of fire, their aim, and even self repair options. However, there NEEDS to be a retreat command -- no upgrading required for it. Very frustrating when your plasma tank barely wins a fight, then keeps going, with JUST BARELY too much health for it to retreat on it's own, resulting in it's death.
Might want to vary the firing pattern of the final level more than just increasing the firing speed every few segments destroyed. Also, clean up the hitbox on the "ship". A lot of times I dodged enemies/projectiles I shouldn't have, and a few times got hit when I shouldn't have.
MAJOR BUG: If you use a continue, some or all of the remaining enemies will not be removed. Combine that with reset cooldowns on everything and it becomes near impossible to do anything.
Becomes boring and repetitive very quickly. Troops move very slowly, making it difficult to defend the base with how few soldiers you have due to the high costs. Also, if you can hire more troops, couldn't you just use their transport to escape? Plot hole ftl >.>
