final boss's attack (ground pound) is triggered by regular troops. I have 3 titans, 2 angel knights and he never attacked. soon as i had an elf protector attack him, boss attacked till protector was dead and never attacked again

you just upgrade the cold, moisture, and heat by 1 and wait. after everyone is infected, you start with your lethality
