@vmills: Try a) using a different ship (the sprinter or pegasus shuttle comes to mind for speed) and b) doing other kinds of mission like assassination. The main point is the combat.

best way to kill pest spawner:acid. at max upgrade it can 1hit it with no spawn.

The game is MUCH easier after you play for longer. For one thing, you gain experience as a person and get used to how Elona Shooter works. For another, you accumulate medals that give you cool bonuses. For example, I recently got enough medals to start with over 2000 dollars, or enough to have two allies right after the first day.
1)Pick Virus. 2)Start in New Zealand, Cuba, or Greenland. If you do not start in one of these 3 countries, restart. 3)Sell starting symptoms, if any, and buy sneezing and coughing (If you started with sneezing and coughing, keep them). 4)Buy 1-1-1-0 resistances but no transmissions (they trigger closures). 5) Once one other country is infected wait untill it has an infected population at 8,000 and sell coughing. 6) Once that country has reached 30,000 infected sell sneezing. 7)Wait until all countries are infected. If Madagascar closes its shipyards or is not infected until day 30, restart. 8)Buy coughing, sneezing and vomiting then, in order : fever, fatigue, diarrhea, pulmonary edema, and hypersensitivity, after that if you have points and time left add what you like 10): Wait until everyone dies. 11) ??? 12) Profit!!!
