That's weird that it would load but then not play. Which "start" button was it, the one after the preloader or the one on the main menu? Send me a PM and I'll try to get this sorted for you.
so many upgrades..... not enough reward from levels / no ability to replay past levels.... i do not see ever getting the final upgrade of the last monster with the system that is in place.....
