Such an evil maze :) But Great game! The last levels were quite easy, because you can hit multiple walls at the same time and see the gist of the maze. So maybe have a faster rate of the color disappearing to make it more challenging. :)
What just happened? I went and flew in reverse to complete the challenge, and roughly landed at -8000. When I hit the ground, a 8-bit penguin popped up and said (paraphrasing) "I command you to fly again." Then magically, I was thrown into the air, and continued flying O_o It was a pleasant surprise.
DEFINATELY a game that you should not play at midnight! I tried this out last night and it was very creepy. I tried it out today, and it is A LOT better :)
I tried the NES game, and I got most of them right without help. Then I got to this one and was pretty much stumped (until I used hints). Though, I never really played any of the SNES games, I know so much about the FF series that I got them in like 2 seconds ^ ^

So, when I went to fire, my scope zoomed out and the screen became roughly half the screen, and then I fired again and the screen became 1 x 1 inches... Have no idea why it did that or how I could fix it.
(Tried pushing space bar, but that did relatively nothing...)
So I figured it out. If it bugs, quit to menu, and then click continue. You will start at the beginning of the day that you were last on.
I did it once, and it never bugged again, and I actually got all of the achievements (eventually)!
