FYI, the online maps system uses a service that is being phased out by Google. It may go away forever later this month. Thanks everyone who has played.

With the new system I can get 18/1383 for level 19. The current scoring system encourages abstraction by only counting a subroutine as a single box no matter how many boxes it costs to make. I'd be inclined to (a) count redirects and starts as 0 in box count and (b) count any subroutine box by its own component count.

duerig, that's actually how it works.

kirin, thanks. I just modified my level 19 solution to do just that. A fun little extra puzzle. Unfortunately, my iterative solution is much slower because I have to have a 'load until stack is empty' loop at the end rather than a 'load # of recursions' at the end.

The online map database is temporarily down. This will be resolved some time today.

Maps are back up. Post here or on my profile if you have map troubles.

If anyone has noticed patterns in save game failures, please PM me.

dwerghamster, you have successfully anticipated the beginning of the plot for SC2. Congratulations. :-)

grberry, I have added the appropriate hooks and verified that they work. The game notifies the server when you have completed various difficulties of random maps, the campaign, etc. They are not listed on the high scores table because it doesn't make sense to list them there. I have no idea why the editors of the site decided to pass over this game when it came to badges. Hopefully they will add them to the sequel when it comes out.

Since nobody has come across them as far as I can tell, I thought I'd post hints for the random easter egg levels: Some city names cause special maps which change the rules a bit. ## Map names must contain a certain name to be special. For instance, if 'New York' was a special map, then 'New York City' would also be the same kind of special map. ## The author's home town map is a perfect grid, just like in the real world. ## In the city from "28 Days Later", the zombies run. ## There is a mall city inspired by "Dawn of the Dead". ## A medical reference from "Night of the Living Dead" creates an extra challenge. ## Umbrella Corporation's home town is cut off from the mainland but has lots of special buildings. ## If you visit the city from "Land of the Dead", survive as long as you can because the zombies can cross the water... ## In the city where Thriller was shot, the zombies can dance.

luisveloz: I meant people who are making custom maps. :)

Sorry, Marchao. Take a look: http://www.kongregate.com/forums/3-general-gaming/topics/115524-shattered-colony-maps-here?page=2 My post is at the very bottom.

Level designers: Check out the forum thread. I've posted some stuff that might help you make more interesting maps with custom briefings etc.

People have made a huge number of maps. I checked the database and there are 3100 maps in the database that haven't even been rated in addition to the ones bubbling to the top of the 'most fun' list. I modified the 'recent' list so that it specifically shows maps which haven't been rated. Try a few of the unrated maps and maybe you'll be the first to play an awesome new map. :-)

I've just improved the pathfinding. Please give me feedback on whether it seems to help or not.

Version 1.5 of the game released. Better resource control (Gather resources button), more hotkeys, shift-click to add or remove 5, and browsing online maps. Let me know if I've introduced any new bugs.

marchao, you mis-pasted the URL slightly. Try: http://auriga-squad.appspot.com/get/agxhdXJpZ2Etc3F1YWRyCwsSA01hcBjM_wcM Notice how on your original message, you have an extra 'http' and such at the beginning?

I think that Kongregate is filtering out all XML tags. If you want to post a map, click the 'upload map' and then post the resulting URL.

It might be a good time to mention that some random maps are special...

If the game won't start for some reason, please PM me your OS and web browser and version of flash. I'm trying to reproduce so I can find out what is happening.

If you see a tree in a house entrance, send me a PM with the difficulty and map name please. This will let me reproduce your exact same map and reproduce the problem.

For those having trouble with workers being idle, are you sure you have set higher quotas for workers at the depots where you want them and lower quotas elsewhere? If this is so, can you come up with a reproducible way to show the problem? I want to fix lazy workers if it is an issue, but I can't reproduce yet.
