The enemies don't drop mana, nor does it generate or recycling your own units generate it - so if you did like me and, not understanding the poorly-written instructions, only summoned one miner and got it killed while at 50 Mana... you're kind of screwed. Had to restart the first level (while playing on Easy).
The checkpoint system made a level unwinnable. Why does it forget me successfully grabbing a key but remembers me moving a box off of a switch immediately after grabbing said key?
I would have liked some more footspeed (I was backtracking a lot and it get tedious) and maybe a jumping upgrade. Overall, though, it's a fun little game. A lot of people have tried this kind of concept and it worked very well here.
Kind of undermines the solemnity when I'm picking out polka dots on somebody's sleeve. Also, did this guy get married and have kids (and grandkids) yet stay hung up on Mysterious Lake Woman up til his death?
A very well-done spot-the-difference game! The differences aren't microscopic, there's enough red herrings to make it a fun challenge (and not incredibly frustrating), and it's easy to get a feel for the (adorable) story while playing. Very nice!
The second one was really difficult until I started watching the borders, since no piece ever LEAVES the stage - so if none go off the right edge of the square, then it's probably on the right side of the picture, etc.
Pretty good game, frustrating but clearly achievable... except for the wall jump part (I am the absolute WORST at wall jumps, and you put one as a vertical opening, and I am stuck forever).
The whole potion-making thing was kind of annoying (losing bottles when you fail, and there's no way to improve your ability, and used potions don't leave bottles behind...) and some of the overworld walking is slow, but overall this is a FANTASTIC game. I would love to see more - it's amazing how much you managed to innovate the rather tired JRPG/JRPG-esque genre.
Why do I have to level up creatures before evolving now? Is it to force me to buy more inventory space so I don't lose them while grinding? Ugh. Also, please tell me evo-only monsters don't take up an inventory space, because that is literally one of the stupidest inventory designs I've ever seen.
I'll be honest, still no idea how/why that door opened. The person in the walkthrough appears to trial-and-error it open. (Also, the lighter stays in your inventory and you use it multiple times? Blasphemy!) Enjoyable game overall, kind of want to see more of our charming protagonist.
I wouldn't go so far as to say I've innovated the genre, but it's a huge compliment! Thank you!
