This is really one of my favorite games here on Kong. I went through it so many times, and am about to do it again. My opinion isn't in agreement with the top comments, but here it is : Hats should definitely NOT give upgrades. The whole purpose of the game is to win by pure strategy, deciding which jelly to conquer, what to transform it into depending on the situation. This isn't a game about upgrading until you're strong enough to beat the level. What else do you guys want, a SHOP ? Also, you could drop the star system all together. So what if you beat the level slowly or "inefficiently", as long as you find a winning strategy ?
tl;dr : I think this is a good pure strategy game and it doesn't need upgrades, stars and that kind of stuff.
Level 35 is sort of hackable, you can place a mirror almost on the same space as the fixed one next to the laser feeder, which is enough to lead the laser to it, 'overriding' the fixed one.
You can thus finish the level easily, using only a part of the space and not all objects :p Maybe you can fix this ?
I would like a few seconds pause after completing each level (especially when they get tough) to admire my masterpiece before moving on to the next level. Maybe with some sort of (sober) victory music or something :)
I like the fact that there isn't any zoom button. In the first game, I discovered it near the last levels and was like "Aw man, the game would have been much too easy with that !"
I'm gonna go against the general flow here and say that no upgrades is just fine :)
Ususally, I'm all for them, but I feel that here upgrades would make grinding levels to get stars replace the actual strategy which is so awesome in this game.
@petermonica
I'm not certain about everything for i've not explored all of the game, but here's what i gathered :
"First" mode (icon at the very left of the menu) is "normal" mode, where you have 60 levels to beat. Once you've beat one, you can go tackle another.
"Second" seems more like a "survival" one, where you last as long as you can in the same "big level", trying not to get killed or run out of energy.
"Third" one seems to be the custom levels since you can upload and download stuff.
One type of explosives works like this : They kill any enemy next to it (not diagonally) and moving things (enemies and you) next to enemies who explode die as well. So you can kill yourself in a chain reaction.
I'm not guarenteeing any of the info here, and to conclude, I'd say that it's one of those games where wondering how it works, understanding the mechanics and restarting levels ten times is part of the fun.
You don't get everything on a silver plate, exploring is the key of the game.
Never mind my combo question, just got that there are no different types of combos I think !
Anyway, it's really nice, really dynamic and the graphics are great !
Hard mode is not impossible, but.. hard as it says. 16th was the most difficult for me, you need to get those red guys pretty synchro to race through. A good dosage of difficulty :)
Thanks for playing! :)
