So, this is pretty obtuse and the hints are unclear, also the bugs don't help. All I have left is the AI and the torch, (water and key if I feel like going back to them), the small key does nothing as there's nothing in the locker it opens, tried reopening it multiple times, reloading, etc, so I'm assuming there's a bug and whatever is supposed to be in there I'm not getting. It's an OK attempt, but its too buggy.
A way to cancel an expedition, say within a couple minutes of starting it, would be nice. Sometimes I misclick and then I end up with one longer (or shorter) than I was planning.
I just realized I've been "playing" this game for a couple months now. I'm on chapter 1 map 11 and I'm on the fourth stage of the map. I log in, wait to get all the daily freebies, then leave it alone. What the hell am I doing? This isn't even a good TD game. King of Towers, horribly ripped off and super duper p2w as it is, is a better TD game and its not as fun as most of the free ones. Got sucked in by the daily freebies, I guess.
I love the invasion event. That needs to be a permanent addition. No daily limits though. Its one of the more fun things to do. Some suggestions for improvement to it. More stats for the soldiers. Instead of just keeling over when they're touched, some HP or armor would be a nice addition (maybe buy armor for them?) Use abilities (or consumables), grenades, firebombs, etc. As is, its a great addition, adds something extra to an "idle" game.

Merchants, both base and the mysterious Dave, should have limited random sales. Say, 10 items. I tend to leave this running over the weekend (at work) and I always come back to Dave having so many items it breaks the bottom frame of the screen. If I want anything near the bottom, I just have to keep buying stuff until it fills a slot.
Neat, better than some, a little too easy. You never need anything but tesla towers, they take about 1200 to upgrade fully. The easiest fix I can think of is to limit the cash upgrades. Say, no more than 5-10 upgrades. It's too easy right now to set 5 tesla towers (all you need until round 11, then you just need 6-7) and tab to something else. Also, next wave should only take 2-3 seconds max to pop up (I'd honestly say 1 second, just enough to not do it by accident). Good basis, though.
