If your browser is restricting the game from running in another tab (unfocused), you can either leave the game visible in the corner of the screen (giving it its own tab) or turning on auto pause to give progress while away. I will see if I can improve the auto pause/offline system to be better but this is a very hard thing to do as the browser is restricting the game when it is in another tab and makes it much harder for me to 'simulate' your progress while the window is unfocused.
