Good grief... for a while there I thought I'd never reach level 50. Around level 38 I decided I had more than enough Scroll of Deception, stopped exploring everything, and pretty much just ran for it... My very first (and probably the only one I'll be able to get) Impossible badge! Really enjoyed the game. Which is good, considering the hours I've spent on it now. (And in case anyone's interested I did it with Warrior/Cleric/Mage/Ranger.) And now for Book of Dread...
So... I was playing this game on Firefox, and had Firefox crash about 17 times in an hour. I figured I'd just use IE and it would be good. It took longer on IE, but that crashed too. The crashes happen most often in the traning fights in zone 4. (Two to three crashes to finish 1 fight on Firefox. 1 crash for about 2 fights on IE at the moment.) Anyone else having this problem?
Two words: Arrow keys. The controls were driving me nuts half the time. Touch pad+WASD only= not very user-friendly controls. And maybe go a bit easier on the white next time. I haven't finished the game. Not because of the controls, but because half the time I can't see anything and my eyes are starting to hurt. (Playing this the day after a major migraine attack was probably not the best idea I've had) Other than that it was decidedly interesting. When I get a mouse hooked up and feel like dimming the screen a while (as in not trying to watch a movie at the same time) I'll most likely finish it.
Seeing as I'm on a laptop without a connected mouse I got more than a bit annoyed at the amount of "quick! click this!" in it, but other than that I enjoyed it. Nice way to kill a bit of time while I should be doing other things.
I'm giving it a 3/5 for various annoying glitches, like getting me stuck inside a house when I went from one screen to the next, and vanishing me a couple of times, and the general grindyness of it.
And on a more personal note I'm giving it a "I don't feel like playing this again" score after spending 6+ hours grinding to get a chest armor for my warrior and getting 5+ Robe of the Ancients, 4+ Legs of the Tracker, and no Rockwell Armor, or any other kind of chest armor... at all. (The + after the numbers cause I know I got some before I actually started counting. I had to kill a few hundred mercenary people to get the last merchant quest.) It was fun pasttime for a while, but right now I just want to kill the last boss, get the badge and get away from this game.
My biggest problem so far has been not knowing what the darned things are called in English... I think I need to let it rest until I feel like searching out a dictionary online. >.<
A brilliant idea for a game though, if you ask me. Right up my alley!
I have possibly the oddest question yet... How come, when I explored and completed 100% on all the levels 1-9, did I only get 99% on explore and complete on the statistics when I killed the Corruptor? Anyone have any idea?
