Not necessarily a BAD game. It just seems very simplistic and a bit uninspired. :/ Try to think about what's supposed to make your game different from others. What is supposed to make it unique? And whatever that is, is it in this version of the game? Is it really? :/

Developer response from Monstruba

Thanks for your feedback! I agree its a simple game. I made this as part of a personal educational exercise of making one game per month in 2013 :) I had to cut a lot of features to finish in time, but I want to polish it up in future updates.

I'm beginning to wonder if anyone at igirlsgames actually _tries_ to make a decent game. Because if I were asked to guess, I would say no... Evidence to the contrary, please?

Ignoring the fact that the game makes absolutely no sense, it still seems like a waste of talent and effort. Why not put those decent graphics towards a game of some substance? Why not create "girlsgames" that don't treat girls like they're mentally handicapped?

I know it's common on youtube for people to say things like, "All trademarks and copyrights for Pokemon are owned by Nintendo" and think that absolves them of any responsibility... but it doesn't. The issue with copyright isn't that you're passing it off as your own. The issue is that you do not have explicit permission from Nintendo to use their intellectual property. That's stealing, plain and simple. Enjoy your ban.

Kind of confused as to the point. :/ I also think it's unfair to call it a game since it doesn't have rules or goals or a challenge of any kind. At this time it's just a simluation. Not sure if you were going for more than that. That aside, the time counter is annoying because it doesn't seem to provide any service or useful information. It's also (a) too big, and (b) disappears off-screen when it gets too big. The "dropper" also drops blocks when the spacebar is _released_, not when it's pressed, which is counter to how most people play games. This probably should have gotten a lot more time in the oven. It's not at all apparent what you were trying to accomplish with this, though I wish you the best.

Developer response from connormality

It's not really a game, yet, it's just a personal project of mine that I made for a onegameamonth challenge. I didn't have time to polish it before I put it up. Thanks for the feedback though, I'm still working on it so it should be better the next time around.

Not a bad idea. Certainly seems pretty original, though I'm sad that the description mentions the goal being expanding one's "empire" yet when playing there is no mention of any sort of empire or plot or story. Simply saying there's one in the description does not a story make. There's definitely room for one and I think it would act as a good framing device for the game (not only to provide meaning but also to help prevent the puzzles from becoming repetitive.) Add in a theme maybe? The player selects a "hero" who embodies their side, affording occasional bonuses, such as temporarily freezing the enemy, or maybe allowing (once per game) the ability to move to an otherwise illegal (i.e. non-adjacent) square. --- Or maybe, all that being said, you don't want to implement a plot or storyline. That's fine too, but then it's misleading to say in the description that it's about expanding one's empire. It's not an empire. It's a bunch of blocks. Fun blocks, yes, but not an empire. Good luck!

Developer response from timophy

I doubt I will put a story line into this. I care more about making a fun game, not a good story. I agree it would help, but I know my own weaknesses. I do think the idea of special abilities is cool though!

I think failing a level could have been done a lot better. :/ Experimenting is half the fun, like beating a three-moves-for-gold level in two moves. What ruins that (for me) is the fade screen every time I fail asking if I want to see the solution, as if there's someone standing next to me repeatedly asking, "Do you give up? Give up? How about now, give up?" It's annoying and unnecessary. When I kill a hostage, just put the words "Failed" in red on an overlay in the corner and let the animation play out. There's a reset button at the bottom of the screen. I'll reset it when I want. And if I DO decide to give up, I'm a big boy and can use Youtube or Google.

Not bad. I assume this is just a test run. Obviously the levels don't go anywhere. They just refresh forever, which can get stale. The three-sided paddle is neat, but the collision map seems off and it seems like a bit of a cop-out substitute for actually coding better ball/paddle interaction. A (much) bigger playing area with more bricks would be better. Paddle also goes outside the playing area. Not sure if this is a "feature," but usually it's not. Not bad though. Keep up the work!

Yeah... I'm okay with the "cruelty," however gameplay is lacking. I think it's safe to say that missiles dropping from above is easier to code for a game, but you (the developer) should have put more time in making an actual "shooter" since it only comes off as cheap and lazy. Not sure if "Penigue" is a typo or just a bad attempt at being clever. No story. No real upgrades outside of a handful of equally useless weapons... This probably should have been planned a bit more before execution.

You've done better than I could so I say this with the full intention of being constructive: I'm sure you know the controls are clunky. Targeting was weird. Lightning hit the location the bugs had been when I pressed the button, not where they actually were. So, in other words, (offensive) magic is so inaccurate as to be useless. Didn't try melee. Wanted to play more but the game was WAY too dark. Could barely see a thing. I'd be much more interested in the game if I could actually see the detail and effort you've put into it. And the mostly naked girl. Water didn't hurt me. Bugs followed me underwater as well. :| Turning while standing still is WAY too sensitive, and pressing down to step backwards is useless because the character keeps trying to turn. They shouldn’t. Just STEP backwards without turning. That aside, it's not bad. Keep working at it. I know there's a lot of work with any game of this kind (was not expecting the 3D, so doubly so) therefore I wish you luck!

Not quite. More specifically an Indian person who speaks (very poor) English, which was taught to them by the British. Googled "cooling glass" for sunglasses since I'd never heard that before and apparently it's an Indian colloquialism. @Developer I've tried some of your other games. Seriously, no offense: your English is not good enough to use as-is. Find a friend from a Western country and ask them to proofread it. That aside, the game is very slow to load and play. I click things and nothing happens for a solid 5-6 seconds. The loading screen makes no sense. The copy is, as I said, terribly written. I think part of the problem is that you (the developer) are not (I hope) making games that YOU would want to play. Much like authors should write books they want to read, game developers needs to develop games they want to play. This game needs a lot more time in the oven. Good luck.

4 stars. A bit too linear for me, but it aims low. I do still like playing educational games like Super Solvers just for fun so don't think I'm biased at it being too easy. It just seems a bit simple, though I only played up to level four, so if it develops after that then I don't know. The story's a cute idea but I think it should be utilized more. That'll help give the game more meaning and substance. Could make the levels longer and then add a bit more of the story after each level. This would allow the introduction of new question tiers or enemies or levels. But yes, I like it.

Not bad. I like ragdoll games, but high scores for the sake of high scores do not a good game make. I know it takes much more time and planning, but medals and benchmarks and abilities and upgrades more for a better game. Maybe we start out with 1 pull initially and can upgrade to more? Score can convert to currency that is used in the shop. Can purchase more levels. Make the editor purchasable. More characters other than Santa that behave differently. Could place score multipliers in the levels. There's a lot of potential here. :)

The Copy is terrible. "make them kiss watchfully" doesn't make any sense. Not really seeing the purpose of the game. Ignoring the illogicality of the game, getting a high score for the sake of getting a high score is a terrible motivation for playing any game. It's even worse when it's the ONLY motivation for playing the game.

I enjoy it; however, for me at least, the ball only "jumps" if I press a left or right arrow key at the same time. If I press ONLY the up arrow, it doesn't jump, so I effectly (a) cannot jump in place, and (b) have to always get a running jump of some sort. Feels more like a flaw than a "challenge" to be overcome, but it's still a good feel and a decent challenge. :)
