he was psychologically traumatized that Kathryn has died and he somehow feels responsible.he killed her because he had no choice and he regrets doing it in the first place. he was remembering the psychologist but acted like he didnt. he supposedly was a danger to people around him but if he really was,why didnt he hurt the psychologist in the 8 years he was there?he was mainly lonely because he had been in solitary confinement and therefore had no one to talk to about his life.
